Davisville Village
Davisville Village, centrally located and highly sought-after, has always been a favorite among singles, young couples, and families alike. Renowned for its excellent recreational facilities, vibrant shopping districts, and bustling nightlife, which includes bars, restaurants, and movie theatres.
History
Davisville Village takes its name from John Davis, an English immigrant who arrived in Canada from Staffordshire in 1840. Davis served as the first postmaster of Davisville and played a pivotal role in establishing the Davisville Public School. Additionally, he operated Davis Pottery, which became the largest employer in the village. The southern part of Davisville was subdivided in the 1860s on land predominantly owned by the Davis family, while the northern part belonged to the Church. Known as the Davisville Glebe, this area remained undeveloped until 1911 when it was sold to the Dovercourt Land and Building Company, which oversaw the development of the nearby Lawrence Park neighborhood.

The majority of homes in Davisville were constructed in the 1920s and 1930s. West of Mount Pleasant Road, you'll find predominantly large two and three-storey English Cottage and Edwardian-style homes, along with duplexes and walk-up apartment buildings. East of Mount Pleasant Road, the neighborhood features smaller detached houses, semi-detached houses, and bungalows. This area also boasts a handful of historical homes dating back to the late 1800s, as well as a growing number of newly constructed custom homes. Davisville Village is also home to several newer condominium apartment buildings, primarily located on Merton and Balliol Streets and along Eglinton Avenue. Additionally, there are numerous high-rise rental apartment buildings along Davisville Avenue.
